Lewis lab equipment

Our labs are equipped with 8’ Fume Hoods, rotovap cabinets, biosafety cabinets, incubators, and all manner of standard equipment for chemical synthesis, molecular cloning, and cell culture.

We have a range of instruments for preparative and analytical chromatographic separation of small molecules and biomolecules. These include an Agilent 1100 HPLC, an Agilent 1290 UHPLC, an Agilent Agilent 1260 SFC, a Biotage Isolera, and an ÄKTA Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography System.

Finally, we have an IT Double Glove Box with plumbed solvent from an externally accessible IT Solvent Purification System for synthesizing air and water sensitive compounds. We have an IT Single Wet box for working with air senstive proteins and other aqueous species.

We also have several instruments dedicated to directed evolution and high throughput screening. These include a Norgren Systems CP-7200 Colony Picker and a Hamilton Nimbus Liquid Handling Robot with an integrated Tecan M200 Pro Plate Reader. We recently received funding to fully integrate all of these instruments with a Thermo Spinnaker robotic arm.
